FAQs - Victorian Energy Upgrades Program
Integrated systems combine the heat pump and storage cylinder into a single unit, offering a compact and straightforward installation. Split systems separate the heat pump components—Tank and a compressor allowing for flexible placement and potentially enhanced efficiency.
Heat pump water systems typically use 60 to 75%* less electricity than a conventional electric hot water system. Heat-pump systems are more cost-effective as they use less electricity, only powering the compressor and fan.
Heat pump systems require airflow, very similar to a split system a/c unit, which is why they need to be installed outside.
If you’re unsure whether your existing system qualifies for an upgrade, please reach out to our exceptional team. We can arrange for assessors to visit your location, evaluate your current system, and recommend the best solution for you.
The Pressure and Temperature Relief (PTR) valve is a safety device installed on your hot water system. Its primary function is to release water in case the pressure or temperature within the tank exceeds safe levels, preventing potential damage. You should open your PTR valve at least once every six months. This frequency ensures the valve remains in good working condition and helps to identify any early signs of malfunction.

We live in a townhouse with a shared wall on one end. Aussie Greenmarks did a good job out of the limited space available to install the outdoor compressor in a busy side yard. Full marks for a complex job made to look easy. Happy with the 5 units installed on the 18KW compressor.
